Punjab tandoor owners warn of roti, naan prices hike
The disagreement between the Punjab Food Department and the Nanbai Association over official bread prices continues, leaving consumers and tandoor owners uncertain about future rates. According to sources, the Nanbai Association has called a meeting on Saturday to discuss the ongoing deadlock and decide revised prices for roti and nan.
Association sources said a proposal has already been prepared to increase the price of roti to Rs25 and naan to Rs35. The association also warned that if the government attempts to prevent the proposed price increase through force, tandoor owners may shut down their businesses in protest.

Meanwhile, sources said the Punjab government has yet to finalise new official prices for roti and naan despite ongoing discussions with stakeholders. The continued delay has created uncertainty in the market, with consumers awaiting the government’s decision and tandoor owners demanding a pricing policy that reflects rising operating costs.
A final decision on the prices of roti and naan is expected after the Nanbai Association’s meeting, which could directly affect consumers across Punjab.
