Switzerland opens fully funded scholarships for Pakistanis students, who can apply?
The Swiss Government has launched the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships 2027–2028 for international applicants. Pakistani students, researchers and artists are among those eligible to apply for the prestigious programme.
Opportunities at leading Swiss institutions
The scholarship programme is funded by the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS). It is designed to strengthen academic cooperation between Switzerland and more than 180 countries around the world.
The opportunities are available for Research Fellowships, PhD programmes and Arts Master’s studies. Selected candidates will be able to study at leading Swiss universities, federal institutes of technology and recognised research centres.
Applicants seeking research-based scholarships must first obtain support from a Swiss academic supervisor. This requirement must be completed before the application is submitted.
Financial benefits for successful candidates
The scholarship offers significant financial support to successful applicants. Recipients will receive a monthly stipend of CHF2,450 to help cover living expenses during their stay in Switzerland.
The package also includes health insurance for eligible candidates and a one-time housing allowance. In addition, scholars may receive a Swiss Half-Fare Travel Card and return airfare if they come from eligible non-EU countries.
Application timeline announced
Swiss authorities have confirmed that applications for the 2027–2028 intake will open on August 20, 2026. Country-specific deadlines will be announced separately through Swiss embassies.
Students interested in applying are encouraged to begin preparing their documents early. Experts say early planning can improve the chances of completing all requirements on time.
Warning about fake scholarship offers
Swiss officials have also issued a warning regarding fraudulent scholarship advertisements online. They have stressed that the entire application process is free of charge.
Authorities said applicants should never pay money for scholarship processing or visa-related services. Students have been advised to rely only on official information sources when applying.
Why this opportunity matters
The scholarship programme provides a chance for talented Pakistani students and researchers to gain international academic experience. It also helps build stronger educational links between Switzerland and Pakistan.
