Punjab launches massive Muharram security plan across province
Under the new Punjab Muharram security plan, all Commissioners, Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and other officials have been instructed to stay on the ground instead of working from offices.
The government says the move is aimed at ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of Muharram processions Punjab and religious gatherings.
As part of the Muharram security Punjab measures, authorities will closely monitor procession routes and public gatherings.
Officials will review security arrangements in real time and respond quickly to any situation that may arise during Muharram.

Roadside water sprinkling will also be carried out to help reduce heat stress for participants.
Authorities have been directed to remove hanging electric wires, construction materials, and other obstacles from procession routes to avoid accidents and improve safety.

Streetlights along major routes will also remain fully operational to support secure nighttime gatherings.
The Punjab Police Muharram security operation will be carried out in coordination with district administrations.

In another important step, Rescue 1122 Muharram teams, field hospitals, and Clinics on Wheels Punjab services will be deployed along key routes.
The government says Rescue 1122 Muharram personnel will remain ready to provide emergency assistance, while Clinics on Wheels Punjab units will offer medical support where needed.
Officials added that all information camps, security camps, and water distribution points will follow a uniform design so people can easily identify official facilities and receive assistance without difficulty.
