KARACHI (Web Desk): The Muharram moon sighting has not been confirmed in Pakistan, according to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, which has officially announced the start of the new Islamic month.

The committee stated that no reliable reports of Muharram moon sighting were received from any part of the country. Based on this decision, the Islamic month will begin according to the Islamic calendar Pakistan system.

Officials confirmed that 1st Muharram will fall on Wednesday, June 17, marking the beginning of Muharram 2026 and the new Islamic year preparations across the country.

The announcement was made after a formal meeting of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, which reviews moon sighting evidence from different regions before finalizing Islamic dates.

Authorities explained that the determination of 1st Muharram depends on the visibility of the crescent moon, which is essential in the Islamic calendar Pakistan for marking the start of each month.
