Over 10,000 education employees face dismissal in Sindh
According to reports, the employees facing dismissal include primary school teachers, junior elementary school teachers, naib qasids, watchmen, gardeners and laboratory attendants. Officials said the School Education Department had issued show-cause notices to the employees, giving them an opportunity to explain their absence.
However, authorities said the employees failed to provide satisfactory explanations, prompting the government to proceed with disciplinary action. Hyderabad Division recorded the highest number of ghost employees, with more than 2,000 staff members declared absconding from duty.
Similar cases were also reported in Karachi, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad divisions, indicating a widespread attendance issue across several parts of the province.

The Sindh government plans to begin dismissing the identified employees from August as part of its efforts to improve accountability, strengthen monitoring and ensure regular attendance in educational institutions.
Officials believe the move will help improve the performance of government schools and ensure that public resources are used effectively for the benefit of students. The action is being viewed as one of the largest crackdowns on absentee employees in Sindh’s education sector in recent years.
