Motorway Police officer martyred during traffic duty
A sub-inspector of the National Highways and Motorway Police embraced martyrdom after a dumper truck struck him while he was performing traffic duty on GT Road near Kamra.
The martyred officer was identified as Sub-Inspector Javed Akbar, who suffered critical injuries when a speeding dumper truck hit him during routine duty, according to a Motorway Police spokesperson.
He was immediately shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Hazro, where he later succumbed to his injuries despite doctors’ efforts to save his life.
The spokesperson said the dumper driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, while one of the vehicle’s helpers was taken into custody. Police have launched a search operation to arrest the absconding driver and complete the investigation.

According to the initial investigation, the accident occurred due to the dumper driver’s alleged reckless and negligent driving. Sub-Inspector Javed Akbar was a resident of Mardan and is survived by his wife and five children.
Inspector General of the National Highways and Motorway Police, Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry, expressed deep sorrow over the officer’s martyrdom and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
He paid tribute to the martyred officer’s dedication and commitment to public service and directed the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident. The inspector general also ordered that those responsible for the tragic accident be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
