Pakistan rejects CBS report on Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan airbase as misleading claim
Pakistan has rejected a CBS News report about Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase, calling it misleading and sensationalized.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson office, has strongly denied recent media claims suggesting the presence of Iranian aircraft at Nur Khan Airbase is linked to any military or contingency arrangement. The government said such reports are speculative and aimed at undermining regional peace efforts.
According to the statement, during the ceasefire period and the initial phase of the Islamabad talks, aircraft from Iran and the United States arrived in Pakistan. These flights were reportedly used to facilitate the movement of diplomatic staff, security teams, and administrative personnel involved in the negotiation process.
The ministry further explained that some aircraft and supporting personnel remained in Pakistan temporarily in anticipation of future rounds of diplomatic engagement. Although formal negotiations have not yet resumed, senior-level diplomatic contacts between the involved sides have continued.
In this context, visits by the Iranian Foreign Minister to Islamabad were also facilitated through established logistical and administrative arrangements. The statement clarified that the Iranian aircraft currently stationed in Pakistan arrived during the ceasefire phase and have no connection with any military deployment or emergency strategy.
The Foreign Office emphasized that such claims are misleading and do not reflect the factual situation on the ground. It added that Pakistan has consistently played a neutral and constructive role in promoting dialogue, de-escalation, and diplomatic engagement between relevant parties.
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to supporting peaceful efforts aimed at reducing tensions and strengthening regional and global stability. Officials stressed that all arrangements made were routine, transparent, and coordinated with concerned stakeholders.
The statement was issued from Islamabad on May 12, 2026.
