Punjab winter school timings revised for public schools
The new timings will remain in effect from October 16, 2026, to March 31, 2027.
The Punjab School Education Department has issued instructions for schools across the province to follow the updated schedule. District education authorities have been directed to ensure that all public schools comply with the new timings.
New Winter Timings for Single-Shift Schools
Under the revised schedule, single-shift schools will open at 8:45 am and close at 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, classes will run from 8:45 am to 12:30 pm.
The revised hours are intended to adjust school schedules for the winter season. Students and parents should check the timings of their respective schools to avoid confusion.
Morning Shift Timings for Double-Shift Schools
Schools operating two shifts will follow separate schedules for morning and afternoon classes. The morning shift will run from 8:45 am to 1:15 pm from Monday to Thursday.
On Fridays, morning classes at double-shift schools will end at 12:30 pm after starting at 8:45 am. These timings differ slightly from those for single-shift schools during the first four days of the week.
Afternoon Shift Timings Announced
The afternoon shift at double-shift schools will operate from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, classes will begin at 2 pm and end at 4:30 pm.
The separate schedules will allow schools operating in two shifts to manage their classes within the revised winter timetable. Parents should confirm whether their children attend the morning or afternoon shift before planning school drop-offs and pick-ups.
District Officials Directed to Implement Schedule
The School Education Department has instructed all chief executive officers of district education authorities across Punjab to ensure that schools follow the revised timings. The notification was issued on October 14 and signed by School Education Secretary Muddassir Riaz Malik.
The department has also allowed district education officials to adjust the 15-minute gap between opening and closing times at girls’ schools according to local requirements. This provision gives officials some flexibility to address local needs while implementing the winter schedule.
The revised Punjab winter school timings provide a clear schedule for public schools during the colder months. The separate hours for single-shift and double-shift schools mean that parents should check the timetable that applies to their children.
The new schedule will remain in place until March 31, 2027. Clear communication from schools and district officials will help students and parents adjust to the changes.
