NADRA update: Pensioners get relief over Proof of Life certificate
The NADRA pension update has brought relief for pensioners as the National Database and Registration Authority clarified that pensions will not be stopped because a Proof of Life certificate was not issued in September. NADRA said there is no government decision to stop pension payments on this basis.
NADRA Public Information Officer Syed Shehab Ali said pensioners will not face payment suspension simply because their Proof of Life certificate was not issued within the required period. He made it clear that the delay will not be treated as a reason to stop a pension.
Proof of Life certificate process made easier
NADRA is working with relevant institutions to make the Proof of Life certificate process easier for retired employees. The facility is especially aimed at helping elderly pensioners complete the process without unnecessary difficulty.
NADRA said the purpose of the facility is to reduce the need for elderly pensioners to visit different offices repeatedly. The authority wants to make the pension process simpler and more convenient for retirees.
Relief extended to government pensioners
The clarification applies to pensioners from federal and provincial government institutions, as well as retired personnel of the armed forces. These pensioners will not be affected if their Proof of Life certificate was not issued during September.
Retired employees of institutions that have not yet completed arrangements with NADRA for issuing Proof of Life certificates will also not be affected. Their pensions will not be stopped merely because the required arrangements with NADRA are still incomplete.
NADRA explains why pensions will continue
NADRA’s Public Information Officer said the pension of any retired employee will not be stopped only because the authority could not issue a Proof of Life certificate within the specified period. The clarification is intended to remove concerns among pensioners about possible suspension of their payments.
The authority said its certificate facility is designed to make the process easier for senior citizens. It also aims to save elderly pensioners from the difficulty of making repeated visits to different government offices.
The clarification gives pensioners an important sense of relief about their monthly payments. NADRA has made it clear that a delayed Proof of Life certificate alone will not lead to pension suspension.
The new facility can also make the process easier for elderly retirees. Reducing repeated office visits may help pensioners complete verification with less difficulty.
