LHC imposes ban on videos, photos and TikTok content – Here’s why
The restriction covers courtrooms, corridors, waiting areas, offices and other parts of the Lahore High Court.
The ban was approved by Lahore High Court Chief Justice Justice Aalia Neelum, followed by an official notification. The new rules prohibit mobile phone recording in most areas of the court premises.
Ban applies to everyone
The restriction applies to lawyers, police officials, journalists, litigants and other visitors entering the court. Anyone found recording videos, taking photographs or making TikTok content could face action.
Officials have also been given powers to confiscate a mobile phone used to violate the recording ban. The measure is aimed at ensuring that recording activities do not take place in restricted areas.
Officials ordered to enforce rules
Registrar Abdul Rahim has directed relevant officials to ensure strict implementation of the new circular. Court staff will be responsible for checking compliance with the restrictions.
However, the area specifically designated for journalists has been excluded from the ban. Journalists can therefore continue their work within the designated area under the applicable rules.
Violators may face action
People who violate the restrictions may also face action under the law. The court has made it clear that the ban covers different forms of mobile phone recording, including videos, photographs and TikTok content.
The new restrictions place greater limits on the use of mobile phones inside the court premises. Visitors and other people entering the LHC will need to follow the rules to avoid confiscation of their phones or possible legal action.
The new LHC rules are focused on controlling mobile phone recordings inside sensitive court areas. The exemption for the journalists’ designated area allows media work to continue within a specified space.
For visitors, the safest approach is to avoid recording unless it is clearly permitted. Strict implementation could reduce unauthorised content from being recorded and shared from court premises.
