WhatsApp Plus coming soon, Meta tests paid features for users
WhatsApp is preparing to roll out a new premium subscription plan called “WhatsApp Plus,” offering users exclusive customization tools and extra app features.
According to reports, the Beta rollout has already started for Android users, while a limited number of iOS users are expected to receive access soon. The new subscription is currently being tested in selected regions before a wider release.
Optional paid plan for users
The report said WhatsApp Plus will remain completely optional. Users who choose not to subscribe will still be able to use all regular features, including chats, voice calls, video calls, and media sharing without restrictions.
Parent company Meta Platforms has reportedly avoided placing core messaging functions behind a paywall, focusing instead on premium personalization features.
iOS users can reportedly check the app settings to see whether the subscription option is available for their account. Availability may vary depending on the region and account status.
How much will WhatsApp Plus cost?
According to WABetaInfo, the subscription may cost around €2.49 per month in Europe.
In Pakistan, the expected monthly price is around PKR229, while users in Mexico may pay nearly $29 per month. However, pricing could still change before the official launch.
Features included in WhatsApp Plus
The premium plan mainly focuses on customization and enhanced user experience.
Features currently being tested include:
Premium stickers
Custom app themes
Personalized app icons
More pinned chats
Premium ringtones
Improved chat list tools
The additions are aimed at giving users more control over the look and feel of the app while keeping the standard version free for everyone.
