18 year old shot 13 times outside mosque in Burewala, family demands justice
What happened that evening
According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at Police Station Sadar Burewala, Chak 265/E, Burewala, District Vehari, an 18 year old boy, Abdullah had gone to the mosque along with his brother and cousin for evening prayers, and three of them left the mosque separately after the prayer ended.
Abdullah had only been standing outside for a few moments when three unidentified men arrived on a single motorcycle. Two of the men were armed with pistols. They stopped just 2 to 3 feet away from him. Without warning, one of them opened fire, emptying his entire magazine at Abdullah.
Abdullah was hit by 13 bullets, leaving him with 26 entry and exit wounds across his body, including his chest. He was rushed to a hospital in THQ Burewala before being shifted to the Doctors Hospital Lahore, where he remains in critical condition. The attackers had covered their faces and fled the scene. As of now, they have not been identified.

A family already grieving
This is not the first tragedy this family has faced. On August 6, 2025, Abdullah's father, the head of their family and a well-respected man in the area, was murdered by a group of five people.
During the same attack, one of his uncles was seriously injured, and another suffered life-changing injuries that left him permanently disabled.
The family believes the motive behind that murder was a land dispute. The attackers allegedly wanted to occupy land belonging to Abdullah's father, but he had already taken the matter to court instead of resorting to violence. The family also points to jealousy as a factor, saying he was widely respected in the area, which they believe made him a target.
Instead of taking revenge, the family chose to trust the legal system. The murder case had been running for nearly a year, and a court decision was expected around July 17 or 18, 2026, just days after Abdullah was shot.
He had no enemies of his own
Abdullah is only 18 years old and has no personal disputes or enmity with anyone. Because of this, and because of the timing, just days before the court's verdict in his father's murder case, the family strongly believes the same people responsible for his father's death are behind this attack too, this time trying to pressure and intimidate the family into withdrawing their case.

The FIR was registered at Police Station Sadar Burewala under Sections 302 (murder), 109 (abetment), and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The complaint was filed by Abdullah's brother. Police have opened an investigation, but the attackers remain unidentified as their faces were covered during the attack.

Abdullah's family has chosen not to take the law into their own hands, even after losing a father and nearly losing a son. The family is appealing to the justice authorities, asking that the investigation be taken seriously, that the attackers be identified and arrested, and that their family finally be given the safety and protection the law promised them.
