(Web Desk): US President Donald Trump said US-Iran agreement is scheduled for Sunday signing, raising hopes of progress in long-running tensions.

However, conflicting statements from Tehran have created uncertainty about whether the deal is truly ready.

US President Donald Trump said an agreement with Iran is “scheduled to get signed tomorrow” and claimed the development could help reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The statement quickly attracted global attention because of the waterway’s importance to international trade and energy markets.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps rejected reports of an imminent signing and said the framework “has not yet been finalized”. Officials also criticized Trump’s “unusual insistence” on completing the process on Sunday.

According to reports, officials are preparing for a virtual signing instead of an in-person ceremony. The move is aimed at avoiding logistical problems and reducing the risk of last-minute disruptions.

The memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran would reportedly launch a new 60-day phase of negotiations. During this period, both sides would work on implementing the framework and resolving remaining disagreements.

Earlier expectations suggested that the agreement could be signed during a meeting in Europe. Those plans were later dropped because of scheduling complications involving senior US officials.

President Trump is expected to travel for the G7 summit, while security protocols make simultaneous overseas travel by the president and vice president difficult. These factors reportedly contributed to the decision to pursue an electronic signing process.

Despite signs of progress, important differences remain between the US and Iranian versions of the agreement. Disputes continue over issues including the future of Iran’s nuclear program and the release of frozen Iranian funds.

Officials familiar with the discussions say there is concern that delays could threaten the agreement. The longer the document remains unsigned, the greater the risk that negotiations could face new obstacles.

The agreement appears closer than before, but both sides are still sending different messages. If unresolved issues continue, the planned signing could face delays despite the optimism surrounding the talks.
