Pakistan condemns Houthi missile attacks on Saudi Arabia at UNSC
Pakistan's statement at the UNSC
Speaking at the UNSC briefing, Pakistan's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, strongly condemned the ballistic missile attacks against Saudi Arabia and expressed Islamabad's solidarity with the Kingdom. Jadoon said Pakistan expresses full solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom and reaffirms its steadfast support for its security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained close defence and security ties for decades, with their cooperation remaining an important element of Islamabad's regional diplomacy. Jadoon also reaffirmed Pakistan's support for Yemen's own sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity, stressing the need to ease rising regional tensions through dialogue, diplomacy and restraint.
The statement came a day after Saudi-led coalition spokesperson Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said Houthi forces had launched ballistic missiles toward southern Saudi Arabia, which Saudi air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed before they reached their targets.

The missile launches followed accusations by the Houthis that Saudi forces had carried out airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport, with the group warning that Saudi Arabia would face consequences. A Houthi military spokesman described the airport strike as a blatant act of aggression that had effectively ended a de-escalation phase in place since an agreement signed with the Aden-based government in July 2024.
Pakistan also condemns detention of UN staff
Islamabad further condemned the continued arbitrary detention of UN, humanitarian and diplomatic staff by the Houthis, as well as the unlawful seizure of UN premises and assets, calling these actions violations of international law. Jadoon called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detained personnel and full respect for the privileges and immunities of UN staff, facilities and assets.
The escalation threatens a fragile memorandum of understanding signed on June 17 calling for an end of hostilities on all fronts across the wider region, which had drawn in Iran's allied groups including Hezbollah and the Houthis during the recent Iran war.
