Pakistan extends airspace ban for Indian flights till July 24
The Pakistan Airports Authority has issued a new Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), announcing that Indian aircraft will continue to be barred from using Pakistani airspace until 5:00am on July 24, 2026.
Under the latest restrictions, Indian-registered commercial and military aircraft will not be allowed to enter Pakistan’s airspace. The ban also applies to aircraft leased by Indian airlines as well as planes owned or operated by Indian citizens.
Officials said the decision extends an existing policy that has remained in effect since April 23, 2025. Since then, Indian airlines have been unable to use one of the region’s key air routes.

The continued closure means many Indian carriers may have to keep using longer flight paths, increasing travel times and operational costs on several international routes.
Aviation experts believe the restrictions have already created financial challenges for Indian airlines, which have had to spend more on fuel and logistics because of longer journeys.
The fresh NOTAM confirms that Pakistan is maintaining its current aviation policy, with no immediate indication of a change in the restrictions.

The development comes as air connectivity remains an important factor for regional travel and trade, making the continuation of the ban a closely watched issue in the aviation sector.
