Over one million affected as Bangladesh flood death toll reaches 52
Heavy rainfall has triggered severe flooding across several parts of Bangladesh, leaving at least 52 people dead and affecting more than one million residents, according to authorities.
Officials said the flood situation remains critical in seven districts, where roads, bridges and other public infrastructure have suffered extensive damage, making rescue and relief operations increasingly difficult.
Cox’s Bazar has reported the highest number of fatalities and remains the worst-affected district as floodwaters continue to disrupt daily life. Authorities said 267,918 families remain stranded in flood-hit areas, while rescue teams continue evacuation efforts to move people to safer locations.

The Bangladesh Army, Navy and other relief agencies are using boats to deliver food, clean drinking water, medicines and medical assistance to people stranded in remote and flood-affected communities. Emergency teams are also working to restore access to damaged areas, while authorities continue assessing the losses caused by the disaster.
Officials have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert as heavy rainfall continues and flood conditions could worsen in the coming days. The government is continuing relief operations to provide essential supplies and assistance to affected families as thousands remain displaced by the flooding.
