Indian military aircraft crashes while landing
The Russian-made Antonov An-32 “met with an accident” while landing at Jorhat in Assam state, according to an official statement from the Indian Air Force. Authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were on board or whether there were any casualties in the incident.
The air force said a court of inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the crash and determine what led to the accident. Local media outlet NDTV showed images from the crash site, where thick black smoke was seen rising and the aircraft appeared to be broken into multiple parts.

The An-32 is a twin-engine aircraft designed for operations in high-altitude areas and extreme weather conditions. It is widely used by the Indian Air Force for transporting supplies and carrying out missions in remote regions.
Around 100 of these aircraft are currently in service, supporting both military operations and humanitarian aid in hard-to-reach areas. The last major crash involving an An-32 aircraft occurred in 2019 in Arunachal Pradesh near the China border, where 13 people lost their lives.
