US seizes Iranian ship in the Indian Ocean, raising fresh tensions amid ongoing maritime confrontations with Iran.
The United States military has captured an Iranian-linked vessel during an operation in the Indian Ocean, further escalating already strained relations between United States and Iran.
According to the US Department of Defense, the seized ship, identified as MT Majestic, was allegedly transporting oil from Iran. Officials claimed the operation was part of broader efforts to enforce international maritime laws and disrupt illegal networks supporting Iran’s oil trade.
The Pentagon stated that such actions are necessary to curb activities that violate global shipping regulations and to prevent vessels from aiding sanctioned operations. The move reflects Washington’s continued pressure campaign against Tehran.
This is not the first such incident in recent days. Earlier, US forces reportedly seized another Iranian-flagged vessel, MV Tosca, with footage of the operation released by United States Central Command (CENTCOM). The video showed commandos boarding the ship in a high-risk maneuver at sea.

In response, Iran has also stepped up its actions. Just a day earlier, Tehran released footage claiming it had taken control of two ships in the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz.
Experts warn that these tit-for-tat moves could further destabilize key global shipping routes and impact oil supply chains worldwide. With both sides flexing power at sea, the risk of a broader confrontation remains a growing concern.
