Trump extends Israel–Lebanon ceasefire and hints at a major Iran deal as tensions shape Middle East diplomacy.
US President Donald Trump has announced a three-week extension in the ongoing ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, signaling a continued push for regional stability.
Speaking from the White House Oval Office, Trump said he is looking forward to hosting Israeli leadership and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun. He described his recent meetings with both countries’ ambassadors as “positive and constructive,” raising hopes for sustained peace efforts.
Trump emphasized that the United States is ready to work closely with Lebanon to help it counter threats from Hezbollah, while maintaining diplomatic engagement to ensure long-term stability in the region.
On the Iran front, Trump made it clear that he is not rushing into any agreement with Iran. Instead, he seeks a permanent and lasting deal. He revealed that a successful agreement could lead to reopening the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a move that could significantly impact global trade and oil markets.

Trump also claimed that Iran’s economy is under pressure due to restrictions around the Strait of Hormuz, adding that internal uncertainty continues to challenge the country’s leadership. However, he confirmed that dialogue between the two sides is ongoing.
Analysts believe these developments could reshape geopolitical dynamics and influence global energy stability in the coming weeks.
