(Web Desk): Free visa for Pakistanis has been announced by Iran for those wishing to attend Ayatollah Khamenei’s funeral ceremonies.

The special facility will remain available for a limited period and has attracted significant attention.

According to reports, Iran has introduced a 10-day visa fee waiver for Pakistani citizens planning to participate in the funeral and mourning events of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The move comes as Iran prepares to welcome thousands of mourners and official delegations from different countries.

Despite the announcement, travelers will not receive visa-free entry into Iran. Applicants must still complete the visa process and obtain official approval before traveling.

Reports indicate that applications are being processed through Iran’s official eVisa system. Applicants are required to choose the appropriate visa category and clearly state that their visit is related to funeral or mourning ceremonies.

Officials have stressed that travelers must provide accurate information while applying. Any incorrect or incomplete details could result in delays or complications during the approval process.

Under standard eVisa requirements, applicants are generally expected to have a passport with at least six months of validity. Supporting identification documents may also be required as part of the application process.

Iranian authorities have clarified that only the visa fee is being waived under this arrangement. The requirement for prior visa approval remains in place for all eligible travelers.

Visitors have also been advised not to purchase non-refundable airline tickets before receiving visa approval. This precaution is intended to help applicants avoid financial losses if there are delays or changes in their applications.

Some reports suggest that travel or medical insurance may still be required separately. As a result, visitors could face additional expenses even though the visa fee itself has been waived.

The situation regarding travelers entering Iran through the Taftan border crossing remains unclear. Authorities are expected to provide further guidance as funeral arrangements continue to develop.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that a Pakistani delegation would participate in the funeral ceremonies in Iran. Citizens interested in attending have been advised to verify the latest requirements through official Iranian diplomatic channels before applying.

Experts have also urged applicants to use only official visa platforms. They warned against relying on agents who promise guaranteed or faster approvals.

The special visa facility reflects Iran’s efforts to facilitate attendance at an important national event. However, travelers should carefully follow official procedures, as visa approval is still required despite the fee waiver.
