(Web Desk): July to September weather forecast predicts hotter temperatures, heavy rains and risks of floods and heatwaves across Pakistan, PMD said.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released its overall weather outlook for July to September 2026. The forecast warns that most parts of the country are likely to experience above-normal temperatures during the three-month period.

According to the forecast, Balochistan, Punjab and southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are expected to face higher-than-normal temperatures. Southern Punjab and the plains of Sindh may also experience heatwave-like conditions from time to time.

The advisory says northern areas, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to receive normal or above-normal rainfall. Heavy rain in these regions could increase the risk of overflowing streams, flash floods and landslides.

The department said rainfall and rapid snowmelt in mountainous areas may increase water flow into rivers and reservoirs. Higher temperatures could also raise the risk of glacial lake outburst floods in northern regions.

The forecast further warned that major cities in Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could face urban flooding during periods of heavy rainfall. Authorities have advised people to stay alert, especially in low-lying areas.

On the other hand, some parts of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan may receive below-normal rainfall. This could create water shortages for Kharif crops, vegetables and orchards, increasing the need for irrigation.

The Meteorological Department also warned that changing weather conditions could bring strong winds, dust storms, thunderstorms and hailstorms. These weather events may damage crops, so farmers have been advised to follow the latest weather advisories before planning irrigation, harvesting and other agricultural activities.

The public has been advised to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities between 11 am and 4 pm during periods of extreme heat. People should drink plenty of water, wear light clothing and take extra care of children, elderly people and outdoor workers.

The three-month forecast suggests Pakistan could face both extreme heat and heavy rainfall at the same time in different regions. Following official weather advisories and taking early precautions can help reduce the impact on people, agriculture and infrastructure.
