Trump warns of overwhelming missile response if Iran attempts to kill him
Donald J Trump threatened that 1,000 missiles were "locked and loaded" against Iran and stated that thousands more were prepared to follow if Tehran attempted to harm him.
He said the warning was in response to what he described as repeated Iranian threats against his life.
He also claimed that instructions had already been issued to the US military, which he said remained "ready, willing, and able" to carry out the operation for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of an extension.
According to Trump, such a response would "completely decimate and destroy" Iran.
Although Trump had earlier declared the ceasefire with Iran finished, the United States later agreed to continue diplomatic engagement, saying the talks were initiated at Tehran's request.
Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that Israel had provided US intelligence agencies with information alleging Iran had developed a renewed plan to assassinate Trump.
Last month, Iran and the United States reached a memorandum of understanding through Pakistani mediation, seeking to end the conflict that began in late February and pave the way for a lasting peace deal.

The agreement included an immediate cessation of hostilities, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping.
Despite the deal, both countries exchanged military strikes this week over the movement of commercial vessels through the strategic waterway.
The United States targeted sites inside Iran, while Tehran responded by attacking US assets across the region.
Further context proves that Iran’s supposed ‘death threats’ were in response to Trump’s continuous warnings to strike and potentially seize Iran’s strategically important Kharg Island.
In response to Trump’s warnings, Iranian lawmaker Ebrahim Rezaei, who serves as spokesperson for the National Security Committee, challenged Trump, saying, "Come, we're waiting for you."
