Iran urges UN to hold US accountable
Iran has urged the United Nations to hold the United States accountable, accusing Washington of violating international law and carrying out unlawful actions against the Islamic Republic.
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, said the United States bears full international responsibility for the legal and political consequences of its actions.
The Iranian envoy told council members that Washington must be held accountable for what Tehran considers illegal measures. He stressed that the United Nations should take effective and decisive steps to prevent what he called unlawful aggression by the United States.
Iravani also urged the UN to ensure that the United States fully complies with its international obligations and commitments. According to the Iranian diplomat, respecting international law is essential for maintaining global peace and stability.
The latest remarks come amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States following a series of sharp exchanges between officials from both countries.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump warned that Iran would face severe consequences if any threat against him was carried out. Trump said a large number of missiles were ready to respond to any attack allegedly linked to Iran.
The US president further stated that additional military action could be taken if necessary, signaling Washington’s tough stance toward Tehran. The exchange of warnings has added to concerns about growing tensions in the Middle East and the possibility of further diplomatic confrontation.
