Trump says Iran took too long to negotiate and will “pay the price”
Donald Trump has said Iran delayed negotiations for too long and will now “have to pay the price,” delivering a strong warning as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that the Iranian military had been “completely defeated” and used strong language while criticising Tehran’s handling of negotiations.
“The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!!” Trump wrote.
His latest comments came after renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran, which have increased pressure on a ceasefire that reportedly came into effect in April.
The remarks also contrasted with Trump’s comments to reporters a day earlier, when he suggested that negotiations to reach a lasting settlement were in their “final throes” and could be completed within “two or three days.”

Late on Tuesday, US forces announced strikes against Iran in retaliation for the downing of an American helicopter on Monday. Iranian media reported explosions along the country’s southern coast following the attacks.
US Central Command later stated that the US Air Force and Navy had targeted command and control, defence, and surveillance stations during the operation.
Meanwhile, Iran said it had launched attacks on American bases in Jordan and Bahrain on Wednesday, further escalating tensions in the region. The latest developments have heightened concerns over regional stability, with both sides exchanging strong statements and carrying out military actions.
