Texas (Web Desk): X is investigating “racist and offensive” posts generated by the Grok AI chatbot, the social media platform’s latest safety concern.

X and xAI have not immediately commented, and Reuters could not verify the video attached to the Sky News report. Sky News reporter Rob Harris said that X’s safety teams are urgently reviewing Grok’s role in spreading offensive material online.

Concerns over Grok AI are not new. Governments and regulators have been cracking down on sexually explicit content generated by the chatbot. This includes investigations, bans, and new rules to prevent illegal or harmful material from being shared.

In January, xAI restricted Grok AI’s image editing capabilities and blocked users in certain locations from generating images of people in revealing clothing where such content is illegal. Specific countries were not identified.

In the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has launched a formal investigation into Grok. The probe focuses on how personal data is processed and the potential for the AI to create harmful sexualised images and videos. Reports suggest that Grok had been used to create non-consensual sexual imagery, including of minors.

“The creation and sharing of such content raises serious concerns under UK data protection law and poses risks of significant public harm,” the ICO said.

Separately, UK media regulator Ofcom continues its investigation into X. Authorities worldwide are intensifying oversight of AI-generated content to ensure digital safety.
