The United States Department of Defense has started releasing long-secret files linked to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs), previously known as UFOs, giving the public access to hundreds of mysterious reports collected over decades.

The newly declassified documents were uploaded to a dedicated government website after weeks of speculation surrounding the release. The move came shortly after Donald Trump hinted that “very interesting documents” would soon become public.

Hundreds of sightings revealed

According to officials, the collection includes more than 160 files covering over 400 incidents reported worldwide from the 1940s to 2024.

Many of the released materials contain blurry infrared military footage, unusual lights in the sky, and unexplained flying objects captured during surveillance missions.

Several reports involve historic NASA moon missions. During Apollo 11 Moon Landing, astronaut Buzz Aldrin reportedly described strange flashes of light inside the spacecraft cabin.

Other incidents from Apollo 12 and Apollo 17 also mention bright moving particles and unusual lights seen in space.

No proof of aliens

Despite years of conspiracy theories, the files do not confirm contact with extraterrestrial life or any government cover-up involving aliens.

Some sightings were later explained as military aircraft or natural phenomena, while many cases remain unresolved due to limited evidence.

The Pentagon said additional files will continue to be released gradually as part of a wider transparency effort demanded by lawmakers and the public.
