Maryam Nawaz emphasized the need to break the tradition of limiting development to major cities, saying that equal access to modern facilities is the right of every citizen, regardless of location.
As part of this vision, the government will distribute 240 electric buses to 24 underdeveloped districts in the first phase, aiming to improve connectivity and transport services in rural areas.
Between August and October, another 500 electric buses will be provided to five major cities including Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Rawalpindi, as part of the ongoing transport upgrade.
Additionally, 600 more electric buses are expected to arrive in Punjab between November and December, further expanding the clean transport network across the province.
Under the Punjab Clean Air Programme, 400 electric buses will also be introduced in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, and Kasur to reduce pollution and promote sustainable urban mobility.
