The new M5 chip powers Apple’s latest MacBook Pro and Vision Pro, setting a new standard in speed, efficiency, and AI capabilities. Built on third-generation 3nm technology, the processor is equipped with up to ten cores, including four performance and six efficiency cores.
According to Apple, the M5 offers up to 15% better multithreaded performance than last year’s M4, while its performance cores are “the fastest in any consumer chip” so far.
A major leap comes in the GPU department. Each GPU core now has a built-in Neural Accelerator, allowing the M5 to deliver more than four times the AI compute performance of the M4. The graphics engine is 45% faster, supporting up to 32GB of RAM and a memory bandwidth of 153GB/s — nearly 30% higher than before.
Apple says the M5 is designed entirely with artificial intelligence in mind. It can run large language models directly on devices, making creative and AI-heavy tasks smoother than ever.

The chip also introduces a new ray tracing engine and dynamic caching system, offering more realistic visuals, smoother gameplay, and faster rendering in 3D applications.
Apple’s M5 chip shows how quickly AI and graphics are shaping the future of computing. The company is clearly betting on local AI processing — faster, smarter, and without relying on the cloud. If Apple’s claims prove true, the M5 could reshape how professionals and creators use their devices every day.
