LAHORE (Web Desk): Multan Sultans to see a major leadership change, with the appointment of Salman Ali Agha and Mike Hesson as captain and coach.

Sources say former New Zealand coach Mike Hesson has emerged as a strong contender for the role of head coach. The franchise is considering a complete overhaul ahead of the next Pakistan Super League season.

If Salman Ali Agha is appointed captain, he is unlikely to play for Islamabad in the upcoming PSL season. His expected move signals a clear shift in the team’s leadership plans.

Sources added that the final decision on Multan Sultans’ management and leadership structure will be taken by the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman.

Alongside Mike Hesson, the franchise is also in contact with other former cricketers as it explores different options for its coaching and management setup.

Meanwhile, the PCB has started consultations to appoint an interim management for Multan Sultans ahead of PSL 11. Several former national cricketers are being considered for key roles.

According to sources, Abdul Razzaq, Mushtaq Ahmed, and Taufeeq Umar are among the names under review as part of a broader restructuring plan.

Mushtaq Ahmed has previously worked with Multan Sultans as a spin consultant. His familiarity with the team environment is seen as an advantage in his possible return.

Sources also revealed that former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja is being considered for administrative responsibilities. However, no official role has been finalized so far.

The final management structure will be confirmed after approval from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. His clearance will decide all coaching and administrative appointments.

For PSL 11, the PCB will directly manage all operational and administrative affairs of Multan Sultans. This arrangement will remain in place for the entire season.

The PCB also plans to finalise a new owner for the franchise after PSL 11. Until then, the board will continue overseeing the team following former owner Ali Tareen’s exit.
