Pakistan Super League franchise Multan Sultans will be run by the Pakistan Cricket Board during the next edition of the tournament. PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared the decision while speaking to media.
Multan Sultans are currently the only PSL team without an owner. Their franchise agreement was not renewed after former owner Ali Khan Tareen was declared non-compliant by the PCB following his criticism of league management.
The next PSL edition will also bring expansion, with two new franchises set to be auctioned on January 8. However, there will be no auction for Multan Sultans, who remain the league’s most expensive franchise.

“This year, the PCB will operate Multan Sultans itself,” Mohsin said during a press conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. “After the end of the next PSL season, god-willing, we will hand it over to its next owners after an auction process.”
Mohsin further said that an “acting head” for Multan Sultans will be appointed within the next eight to 10 days. He added that the PCB aims to bring in a professional cricketer to manage the team during the season.
PCB wants stability before PSL 2026. Running the team itself avoids delays. A future auction may decide long-term ownership.
