Sibbi records feels-like temperature near 70°C
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a heat advisory after extremely high heat index levels were recorded in several cities. Sibbi experienced a “feels like” temperature of 68.2°C at 2:00 pm on July 8, making it one of the hottest locations in the country.
According to the PMD, the combination of extremely high temperatures and elevated humidity has significantly increased the heat index, creating conditions that can lead to heat exhaustion and life-threatening heatstroke.
Bahawalnagar recorded a heat index of 56.7°C, while Dera Ismail Khan and Dadu each reached 55.8°C. Other cities also experienced severe conditions, including Sargodha at 52.7°C, Hyderabad at 51.6°C, Sukkur at 51.3°C, Sheikhupura at 50.8°C, Faisalabad at 49.5°C, and Peshawar at 49.0°C.
Even cities with comparatively lower temperatures, including Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, recorded “feels like” temperatures above 41°C because of high humidity.

The Met Office has advised people to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and take extra precautions for children, the elderly, and outdoor workers.
Health experts warned that prolonged exposure to extreme heat can cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, and potentially fatal heatstroke if proper precautions are not taken.
