Rain alert issued as humid weather grips Pakistan
Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has predicted rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the country as moist winds from the Arabian Sea and a western weather system continue to influence weather conditions.
According to the Met Office, most parts of Pakistan are expected to experience hot and humid weather on Tuesday. However, isolated rain, windstorms and thunderstorms are likely in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeastern Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Islamabad and surrounding areas are also expected to remain hot and extremely humid, increasing discomfort for residents despite the possibility of cloudy conditions at times.
In Punjab, weather is likely to stay warm and moist across most districts. However, rainfall accompanied by strong winds and thunder is expected at isolated locations in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Sialkot, Narowal and Okara.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also forecast to remain hot and humid, with chances of rain and thunderstorms in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Parachinar, Buner, Peshawar, Kurram, Kohat and Waziristan.
Meanwhile, Sindh is expected to face hot and humid conditions, particularly in central and upper districts where temperatures may remain high. However, parts of Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Karachi and coastal areas could receive rain with gusty winds.
The Met Office has advised residents to stay updated on weather alerts, as strong winds and thunderstorms may affect travel and outdoor activities. Similar weather conditions are expected to continue in several northern regions through Wednesday.
