Punjab rain alert for next two days as PDMA warns of thunderstorms
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has announced that rain is expected in many parts of the province. The weather system may bring showers, strong winds and thunderstorms to several districts.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, rainfall is likely from the evening of July 11 until July 12. The forecast covers a large number of districts across central, northern and southern Punjab.
Rain is expected in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Sargodha, Khushab, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Narowal. Residents in these areas have been advised to remain cautious during changing weather conditions.
The weather system is also expected to affect Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan and Kasur. Nearby areas may also receive moderate to heavy rainfall.
According to the alert, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran are also likely to receive rain. Similar conditions are expected in Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah and Bhakkar.

PDMA Director General Umar Javed said all commissioners and deputy commissioners across Punjab have been alerted. He said the instructions were issued in line with directions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Citizens have been advised to stay in safe places during thunderstorms and lightning. Authorities warned people not to stand in open areas when lightning activity is taking place.
The PDMA also advised residents to remain careful during dust storms and strong winds. Tourists travelling to northern areas have been urged to follow safety precautions and monitor weather updates.
Officials say timely precautions can help reduce risks during severe weather. The coming two days will be important as weather conditions develop across much of Punjab.
