(Web Desk): Teachers’ salaries increased by 35% under the TTS system, with the revised pay package taking effect from July 2026.

The federal government has approved a 35% increase in salaries for university teachers working under the Tenure Track System (TTS). The decision is expected to benefit professors, associate professors and assistant professors across higher education institutions.

According to reports, the federal cabinet endorsed the revised TTS Pay Package 2026. The approval also confirmed an earlier decision made by the prime minister regarding a review of salary structures for university faculty.

Under the revised package, the minimum salary of a TTS professor has been increased from Rs394,875 to Rs407,230. The annual increment has also been raised from Rs19,305 to Rs20,320.

The maximum salary limit for professors has been increased from Rs684,450 to Rs712,030. This change is aimed at improving compensation for senior academic staff.

For associate professors, the minimum salary has been raised from Rs263,250 to Rs370,810. Their annual increment has also been increased from Rs15,356 to Rs18,320.

The maximum salary of associate professors has been revised upward from Rs493,590 to Rs645,610. The significant increase is expected to strengthen the appeal of academic careers in universities.

Assistant professors will also receive a major boost in pay under the new package. Their minimum monthly salary has been increased from Rs175,500 to Rs288,020.

The annual increment for assistant professors has been revised from Rs12,065 to Rs17,720. Meanwhile, the maximum salary ceiling has been increased from Rs356,475 to Rs553,820.

The Ministry of Finance has clarified that universities will bear the financial impact of the revised salaries from their own resources. No additional funding or special grant will be provided by the federal government for this purpose.

The announcement has drawn attention because of the large increase in salaries across all TTS categories. Many education experts believe the move could help universities attract and retain talented faculty members.

The salary increase is a positive development for university teachers. However, universities may face financial pressure because they must arrange the extra funds themselves.
