Teachers get big relief with new allowance during summer training
The Punjab School Education Department has issued new instructions for government teachers taking part in the English Language Training Programme. The decision ensures that teachers attending the training will continue receiving their conveyance allowance.
The new policy will benefit thousands of teachers participating in training during the summer vacations. It provides financial support and removes concerns about losing their travel allowance while attending official training sessions.
According to the official notification, teachers attending the English Language Training Programme during summer holidays will be treated as being on official duty. Because of this, no deduction will be made from their conveyance allowance.
The department has directed all Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) Education across Punjab to implement the decision in the same way. Officials have been instructed to pay the allowances as usual and avoid adopting different procedures in different districts.
The Education Department said the purpose of the decision is to encourage teachers to take part in professional training without facing any financial loss. The department believes that better training will help teachers improve their teaching skills and raise the quality of education.

In previous years, teachers attending training programmes during summer vacations often had their conveyance allowance stopped. The issue had been widely criticised, but the new decision allows teachers joining the English Language Training Programme to continue receiving the benefit.
Education experts have welcomed the move and described it as a positive step for the teaching community. They believe it will encourage more teachers to attend training programmes and ultimately help students receive a better quality of education.
The decision removes a financial concern that discouraged some teachers from attending training. Better participation in professional development programmes could improve classroom teaching and benefit students across Punjab.
