Punjab expands electric bus service to this district under Green Mobility plan
The Punjab government launched the latest phase of its electric bus project in Layyah. The initiative is part of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision to provide cleaner and more modern public transport across the province.
Authorities have already delivered 10 electric buses to Layyah. They also plan to add five more buses soon to further strengthen the transport service in the district.
The new buses are expected to offer residents a safer, more comfortable and environmentally friendly way to travel. The government hopes the project will encourage more people to use public transport while reducing pollution.
The provincial government is also expanding the same project to Narowal. Under that plan, 11 electric buses will operate on six routes, and passengers will pay a fare of Rs20 for each trip.

Officials say the electric bus network will continue to grow in more districts. The goal is to improve public transport, support green mobility and provide affordable travel facilities for people across Punjab.
The expansion shows that Punjab is focusing on cleaner and better transport services. If more districts receive electric buses, public travel could become easier, cheaper and more environmentally friendly in the future.
