Web Desk: A fresh Punjab heatwave alert has been issued for next week, with authorities warning that temperatures could remain significantly above normal across many parts of the province.

According to PDMA Punjab, a severe heatwave is expected to affect most districts from June 8 to June 12. The latest Punjab weather warning states that temperatures may stay 5 to 7 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Officials said extreme heat Punjab conditions are likely to push temperatures in Upper Punjab between 41°C and 44°C. In Southern Punjab and other plain areas, temperatures could climb between 44°C and 48°C.

This sharp Punjab temperature rise has prompted authorities to place emergency services on alert.

The Punjab heatwave alert identifies several districts that may experience the highest temperatures, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Lahore, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, and Rahim Yar Khan.

Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed has directed all commissioners and deputy commissioners to remain vigilant.

Following instructions from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, local administrations have been asked to closely monitor the situation and ensure public safety.

The latest Punjab weather warning also notes that temperatures are expected to remain unusually high during nighttime. In addition, PDMA Punjab has warned that strong winds and dust storms may develop because of the intense heat.

Citizens have been advised to avoid direct sunlight between 10am and 4pm, drink plenty of water, and limit outdoor activities whenever possible.

Authorities said children, women, elderly people, and individuals with health conditions should take extra precautions during the expected extreme heat Punjab conditions.

Farmers have also been instructed to take preventive measures to protect crops and livestock from the ongoing Punjab temperature rise. Rescue teams across the province have been placed on standby to respond to cases of heatstroke and dehydration.

Officials further warned that the Punjab heatwave alert could have wider environmental impacts. Rising temperatures may accelerate snowmelt in northern areas, while PDMA Punjab continues to monitor weather conditions closely.
