(Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued heatwave alert for Karachi as temperatures are expected to rise sharply in this week.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Karachi is likely to experience temperatures between 28°C and 38°C from Saturday to Monday. Weather conditions are expected to become more severe afterward. The weather department has warned residents to prepare for hotter conditions across the city.

The Met Office forecasts that daytime temperatures could rise between 40°C and 43°C from June 8 to June 12. This increase is expected to create heatwave conditions in the city and surrounding areas.

Officials said a high-pressure system is likely to develop in the upper atmosphere on June 8. The system is expected to remain active until June 11 and contribute to extreme heat in several parts of the country.

The department also predicted hot to very hot and dry weather across most districts of Sindh. Night temperatures are expected to remain higher than normal during the forecast period.

Authorities have urged citizens to take precautionary measures during the heatwave. Children, women, and elderly people have been advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight.

People have been asked to stay indoors as much as possible between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. They have also been advised to drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Farmers have been encouraged to plan agricultural activities according to changing weather conditions. Proper care of livestock has also been recommended during the hot spell.

The weather department warned that electricity demand may increase significantly during the heatwave. Citizens have been urged to use water carefully and avoid unnecessary wastage.

The warning shows that weather conditions may become more challenging in the coming days. High temperatures can affect health, daily routines, and power consumption.

People who take precautionary measures early are likely to stay safer during the heatwave. The coming week could be a serious test for residents across Karachi and other parts of Sindh.
