Web Desk: A major controversy has emerged after more than Rs6,000,000,000 in alleged financial irregularities were reportedly uncovered in the Karachi BRT Yellow Line project.

The alleged discrepancies surfaced during a review of the Yellow Line project Karachi, a major public transport initiative designed to improve mobility and reduce traffic congestion for thousands of commuters.

Following the findings, the government ordered a detailed BRT Yellow Line investigation to determine whether any financial rules or procurement regulations were violated.

According to reports, several officials have been summoned by the inquiry committee. Former Project Director Zamir Abbasi, Director Procurement Jaman Das, Project Director Kamal Hakeem, and Deputy Director Taha Aziz have been directed to appear before investigators and provide complete project records.

Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon said authorities are carefully examining the matter.

He stated that former Project Director Zamir Abbasi allegedly approved advance payments in violation of official procedures, leading to concerns over possible Karachi bus project corruption.

The Sindh government inquiry will review procurement methods, payment approvals, contract management, and compliance with administrative regulations.

Officials say all aspects of the project will be examined as part of the ongoing BRT Yellow Line investigation.

The Karachi BRT Yellow Line is considered one of the largest transport projects in the city. The route stretches approximately 22 kilometres and is expected to connect Korangi Industrial Area with Numaish.

Once completed, the Yellow Line project Karachi is expected to serve hundreds of thousands of passengers every day.

Authorities say the project has received support from international development partners and remains a key part of Karachi’s transport modernization efforts.
