ISLAMABAD (Web Desk): The government has taken an initiative that could allow apartment residents and flat owners to benefit from solar power without installing panels on their rooftops.

The proposed Solar Wheeling Policy Pakistan is being designed to make renewable energy more accessible across the country.

Under the Pakistan solar scheme, citizens will be allowed to install solar plants on land in their villages or any other available location.

The electricity produced there can then be transferred through the national grid and adjusted against the electricity bills of their homes or apartments in cities.

The proposed Solar Wheeling Policy Pakistan is expected to be especially beneficial for people living in apartment buildings where rooftop space is limited.

Many residents have been unable to adopt solar energy Pakistan solutions because they do not have enough space to install solar panels.

According to officials, a detailed framework is being prepared under the government’s clean energy strategy. The goal is to expand access to solar energy Pakistan and reduce dependence on expensive conventional electricity sources.

Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Trade President Usman Shaukat said the system will operate through net metering Pakistan, allowing electricity generated at one location to be credited to a consumer’s account elsewhere.

Through net metering Pakistan, users will receive direct benefits in their monthly electricity bills.

Experts say the Pakistan solar scheme could transform the way people use renewable energy. Similar systems are already functioning successfully in several countries where consumers generate power at remote locations and use it for homes and businesses through the grid.

The proposed flat owners solar scheme is also expected to encourage investment in renewable energy projects. Supporters believe the flat owners solar scheme could help thousands of urban households that have so far been unable to access solar power solutions.

Energy specialists say wider adoption of solar energy Pakistan could reduce pressure on the national grid, cut fuel imports, and support environmentally friendly power generation.

They also believe net metering Pakistan will play a key role in making the project practical and efficient.

If approved, the Solar Wheeling Policy Pakistan could become one of the most significant energy reforms in recent years.

The Pakistan solar scheme may give apartment residents the same opportunities as homeowners, while the flat owners solar scheme could help make clean energy available to a much larger population.
