LAHORE (Web Desk): The weather department has forecast rain in Punjab and several other parts of Pakistan until September 5, with flood and landslide risks in some areas.

Rain forecast across several regions

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has predicted rainfall in Punjab from today through September 5.

Several cities and areas in Sindh may also receive rain and light showers. Rain has also been forecast in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The changing weather could bring some relief from the heat in several areas. However, officials have also warned that heavy rainfall could create problems in vulnerable locations.

There is a risk of rising water levels in rain-fed streams in some areas. Mountainous regions could also face landslides because of the expected rainfall.

Relevant authorities have been advised to take precautionary measures and remain prepared for possible weather-related emergencies.

Lahore to remain hot and humid

Despite the wider rain forecast, Lahore is expected to remain hot and humid.

The weather department said there is no significant chance of rain in Lahore during the next 24 hours. The maximum temperature could reach 37 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature is expected to remain around 28 degrees Celsius.

Winds in the city may move at about 6 kilometres per hour, while humidity could reach 73%.

The high humidity is expected to make conditions feel even more uncomfortable for residents.

Karachi may receive light showers

Karachi is experiencing partly cloudy conditions, with light rain or drizzle possible in different parts of the city.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 26.6 degrees Celsius, while the current temperature was around 27 degrees Celsius.

Authorities urged to stay alert

Officials have advised residents to remain cautious as weather conditions change.

People living near streams, low-lying areas and mountainous locations have been urged to follow instructions from relevant authorities.

The possibility of flooding in rain-fed streams and landslides in hilly areas means emergency services may need to remain prepared.

Residents are also advised to keep track of official weather updates, especially during periods of heavy rain.
