UAE work visa rule changes for Pakistani job seekers – what to know
The requirement applies to Pakistani applicants seeking employment in the UAE.
Certificate becomes mandatory
According to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, the UAE government has made a Good Conduct Certificate, also known as a Police Character Certificate, mandatory for Pakistani employment visa applicants.
The new requirement took effect on July 20, 2026. Applicants should obtain the certificate from the relevant authority in Pakistan before proceeding with their visa application.
Attestation is required
The certificate must also be verified by the UAE Embassy in Pakistan. Applicants are advised to complete this step before submitting their visa applications.
Getting the required document in advance can help applicants avoid unnecessary delays or complications during the visa process.
Advice for job seekers
The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment has urged job seekers and licensed Overseas Employment Promoters to follow the updated documentation requirements. Applicants should also ensure that all other required visa documents are complete.
The new rule adds another important step for Pakistanis planning to work in the UAE. Getting the police character certificate and its required verification early could make the visa process smoother.
