(Web Desk): Dense winter fog disrupted travel on major northern motorways early Thursday, reducing visibility to near zero and forcing authorities to suspend traffic on multiple routes.

The National Highways and Motorway Police said Motorway M-1 from Peshawar to Swabi, including the Peshawar–Rashkai stretch, has been closed until visibility improves. Motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and follow fog-related safety guidelines.

Meanwhile, Lahore continued to struggle with hazardous air quality, ranking among the world’s most polluted cities with an AQI of 194. Only Dhaka, New Delhi and Kolkata recorded higher pollution levels. Environmental experts have urged residents to wear masks outdoors and limit prolonged exposure.
