Pakistan’s weather authorities have issued a fresh alert, warning that dense smog and fog are likely to persist and intensify in several regions over the next few days, significantly reducing visibility and disrupting daily life.
According to the advisory, major parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Sindh will remain under the influence of thick smog and fog layers, with the most severe conditions expected in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan, and Sukkur. Officials caution that visibility may drop to dangerously low levels, especially during late-night and early-morning hours.
The adverse weather is likely to affect air, rail, and road travel, raising the chances of flight delays, train disruptions, and challenging driving conditions. Motorists have been urged to slow down, use fog lights, and avoid unnecessary travel to prevent accidents.
Authorities are advising travellers to recheck schedules before leaving home and to allow extra time for journeys during this period of unstable weather.
Health experts warn that the combination of smog and dense fog could worsen respiratory problems, especially for children, the elderly, and asthma patients. Polluted air may cause coughing, eye irritation, and throat discomfort, increasing the need for medical precautions.

Doctors recommend staying indoors as much as possible, avoiding prolonged exposure to outdoor air, wearing protective masks, and using air purifiers to maintain cleaner indoor environments. They emphasise that limited exposure and proper precautions can significantly reduce health risks during the smog season.
