PESHAWAR (Web Desk): In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's upper and glacial regions, a continuous rise in temperature has increased the risk of glacier melting and glacier lake outburst floods.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has alerted district administrations in Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Kohistan. They have been directed to take effective measures to deal with potential threats.

PDMA has instructed the concerned districts to make sure constant monitoring of sensitive locations, implement timely warning systems, conduct evacuation drills, and ensure the availability of emergency supplies. Specific sites have been designated for evacuation in sensitive and potentially affected areas, and rescue agencies have been instructed to remain on high alert.

The public has been advised to not move near rivers and streams and to not drive through fast-flowing water. Tourists have been requested to stay updated about weather conditions and cautious.

Authorities including NHA, FWO, and C&W have been instructed to take pre-emptive measures for timely road restoration.

PDMA’s Emergency Operation Center is fully operational, and the public can contact helpline 1700 in case of any emergency.

Furthermore, PDMA has launched a public awareness campaign to inform people about safety measures and precautions to limit potential damages.
