Officials said the base financial support under the scheme has been fixed at Rs100,000.

Widows who are raising one child will receive Rs125,000, which includes an additional Rs25,000 support.

Women supporting two or more children will receive up to Rs150,000, including an additional Rs50,000 to help manage household expenses.

Application deadline and eligibility

Authorities have announced that the registration process will remain open until March 14.

To apply, the applicant must be a permanent resident of Punjab and must be a widow. Applicants are also required to submit a valid Computerized National Identity Card issued by the National Database and Registration Authority, the husband’s death certificate and the children’s B Form.

How to apply for the scheme

Officials said widows can submit their applications through two simple methods.

Applicants may apply through the official online portal created for the scheme.

They can also visit designated registration centers to complete the process and receive assistance with form submission.

After submission, authorities will conduct biometric verification and review the documents before releasing the financial support.

Purpose of the initiative

The Punjab government says the programme aims to help widows meet their basic household needs and improve financial stability.

Officials believe the initiative could provide immediate relief to thousands of women who struggle to support their families after losing their spouses.

They added that the programme is part of wider welfare efforts to strengthen social protection for women in the province.

The scheme may provide timely support for widows who face financial hardship. Direct cash assistance could help them manage basic expenses. However, the success of the programme will depend on transparent verification and quick distribution of funds. If implemented properly, the initiative could help many women regain financial confidence and live with dignity.
