The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has officially removed the mandatory bank account condition for receiving Rs12,500 under the Ramazan Package 2026. A formal notification has also been issued in this regard.
Earlier, the government had announced financial assistance of Rs12,500 for deserving families. However, it had made it compulsory for beneficiaries to have a bank account. This decision faced strong criticism across the province. Many citizens and local representatives called it unrealistic, especially for poor families.
In remote and underdeveloped areas, access to banking facilities is extremely limited. A large number of rural families neither have bank accounts nor understand complex banking procedures. Because of this condition, thousands of deserving families were at risk of losing financial support.

Now the government has introduced a new and simple registration method. Beneficiaries will be registered using their Computerized National Identity Card and mobile phone number instead of a bank account. This change is expected to benefit thousands of families who were previously excluded.
Officials claim that the new system will increase transparency, expand the reach of assistance and ensure timely delivery of funds to needy households. The move is being seen as a major relief step during Ramazan.
This decision removes a big hurdle for poor families. Many people in villages do not use banks. Linking aid with CNIC and mobile numbers makes the process easier. If implemented properly, more deserving families will receive help without delay.
