Official warnings have been issued that there is high risk of flooding in villages and low-lying regions along Abaseen (Indus River) owing to the stepped-up discharge. People residing downstream of Tarbela, as well as tourists traveling to the region, are strictly warned to keep themselves away from the riverbanks.

The Indus River is presently at a medium flood level, and dam authorities said water flow downstream of Tarbela is also expected to be in the range of 259,000 cusecs for the next five to six hours.

Tarbela Dam management and local authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation and have asked residents of affected areas to remain vigilant and abide by safety protocols.

Additionally, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert ahead of the second spell of monsoon rains expected to begin from July 5 to July 10, 2025, across various districts of Punjab.
