Heavy rainfall, windstorm expected in various parts of country

ISLAMABAD: (Suno News) The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday forecast Isolated/moderate to heavy rainfall as well as possibility of landslides in various parts of the country during April 27 to 29.

 On Saturday, rain-windstorm/thunderstorm (with isolated hailstorm) is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Northeast Balochistan. Heavy, falls are also likely at few places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, the department warned.

Today, rain-windstorm/thunderstorm (with isolated hailstorm) is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. Heavy falls are also likely at few places in northern Balochistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

As per the warning issued by the PMD, isolated/moderate to heavy rainfall may generate flash flood in local nullahs/Streams of Balochistan specially (Noushki, Ziarat, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan and Naseerabad) from tonight to 27th April.

It further warned that isolated/moderate to heavy rainfall may generate flash flood in local nullahs/Streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir from 27th to 29th April.

Possibility of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan may affect the vulnerable locations during the period (27th to 29th April), it said.

Windstorm/hailstorm and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, loose structures like electric poles, vehicles and solar panels etc during the period, it added.

Rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, south Punjab, Kashmir and upper Sindh. However, Dry weather prevailed over most parts of the country, while hot in southern parts.
