Travel advisory issued for Murree tourists
Tourists planning to visit Murree have been advised to avoid travelling via the old GT Road as construction and road rehabilitation work continues on the route.
The advisory was issued by Dr Raza Tanveer, who urged visitors to use alternative roads to ensure a safer and smoother journey to the popular hill station.
In a video message, the District Police Officer (DPO) said Murree remains one of Pakistan’s busiest tourist destinations and is currently receiving a large number of visitors from across the country. He added that police authorities are fully prepared to manage traffic and assist tourists during the ongoing travel season.
According to the official, construction, repair and carpeting work is underway on the old GT Road, which could lead to traffic disruptions and delays for travelers. To avoid inconvenience, tourists have been encouraged to use the Murree Expressway as the primary entry route.
Authorities have also activated three alternative link roads to facilitate traffic flow into Murree city. Visitors have been advised to use Bostan Morr, Masiari Link Road and Jhika Gali Road to reduce congestion and avoid unnecessary traffic jams.
Officials believe the alternative routes will help distribute traffic more effectively, especially during weekends and holiday periods when visitor numbers usually increase.
Murree Police said special arrangements have been made to ensure smooth traffic movement, public safety and timely assistance for travelers. Tourists have also been urged to follow traffic instructions and plan their journeys in advance for a hassle-free visit.
